New Taste Sensation? or Invasion of the Body Snatchers

Richard came home from the Farmer's Market a few weeks ago with this....

thing...

A woman who sells vegetables there every week started growing them. She said it fell off before it was ripe. She thrust it at Richard and urged him to bring it home.

Why?

Is this truly edible?

I don't trust her. She smiles too much. She seems way too happy. Is this really a fruit? Or is it actually an alien pod of some sort?

We are supposed to wait until it turns orange.

I'm keeping my eye on it.

Hi Leilani.

Just a quick note from Germany. I have to catch up with your posts for quite a few weeks now. I'm currently in the final stages of finishing a new wolf-dog-book, so I was pretty busy. It is getting better now. So hopefully I will be able to read more of your blog.
I am amazed how many books you've read in 2009.
Greetings from sunny Germany

Hi LL. Those look suspiciously like three eyes looking out at you to me! Can't imagine what you can do with it - roast it? Good luck with it anyway.
